Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our mechanical keyboards and components.
Do your keyboard kits require soldering?
Many of our kits require soldering for switches and components, but we also offer hot-swap versions for those who prefer a solderless assembly experience.
What is the difference between linear, tactile, and clicky switches?
Linear switches are smooth, tactile switches have a noticeable bump, and clicky switches provide both a bump and an audible click sound.
Are Keebio PCBs compatible with QMK and VIA?
Yes, most of our PCBs are fully compatible with QMK Firmware and VIA, allowing for extensive keymap customization and macros.
What type of USB cable do I need for my split keyboard?
Most of our modern boards use USB-C for the computer connection and a TRRS or USB-C cable to connect the two halves.
Do you offer pre-assembled keyboards?
We primarily focus on DIY kits, but we occasionally offer pre-assembly services or fully built units during special product drops.
Can I use 3-pin or 5-pin switches with your PCBs?
Our PCBs generally support 5-pin PCB mount switches; if you have 3-pin switches, they will also fit but may require plate support for alignment.
